Proposition

Let $G$ be a permutation group on a finite set $\Omega$ and let $G_{\omega }$ be a point stabilizer of $G$ on $\omega \in \Omega$. If $G$ acts on $\Omega$ transitively, then the rank of $G$ equals the number of orbits of $G_{\omega }$ acting on $\Omega$.
